I currently have the body off the frame on my 55. I am going to build a rear shook brace instead of mounting my shocks to the trunk floor. The directions Ive found on the net say to mount the bar so it does not touch the body. So how far down on the frame do I mount the bar? Thanks

I just finished building one for a '69 Nova gasser I'm helping my buddy build. I made it sit about 1/4" below the floor, and then put 3/16" thick plates off the side, but up flat against the existing trunk floor. We just drilled a hole through the plate and the shock stud bolt through the plate so the trunk floor is sandwiched between the shock rubber bushings. It's a lot easier to access the bolts and install or remove the shocks from inside the trunk.
