My problem is the one Ive got is a pretty a much finished car and not sure I want to start cutting it up ,so Im trying to decide if I want to sell this one get a roller and start from scratch or see if I can find a project gasser and go from there. Or maybe do some tradin . Just thinkin out loud .....

Hey grey46,

Yes you do have a very sharp 55.
I hear you on the cutting her up part.
You can always add taller springs and ball joint spacers.
Remove the front bumper.
Get some old skool wheels
These items can be easily changed to get her back the way she was.

You can do some simple mods to get the look that you are wanting unless you want a full race looking car. Here are a couple guy's cars here and what they did.

Check out icody's thread. He took a 'stock' '57 and did some tasteful mods that can easily be reversed. http://www.gasserhotrods.com/forum/showthread.php?21-Its-a-Street-Gasser-that-I-want-to-show!!

Also check out '56 Chevy Gasser's car - it's a 4-door that he did a bunch to get it looking the part http://www.gasserhotrods.com/forum/showthread.php?269-New-guy-from-Fairview-Oregon&p=2326#post2326

It's really a mental thing trying to get your head around taking the leap to gasser. I know from seeing others make the decision that you'll not regret it, especially when you see how your car gets more attention, and more smiles whenever people see it!

I'd keep the black one and build one from a car not as nice. That way if you are not happy with the gasser you can always drive the black one. Gassers do pop up for sale once in a while and some are incomplete but the hard work is already done. Mark L
