My partner sez we need a web site.....My kid is one of them whiz-bang computer dudes so setting it up is not a problem..... but what to have it look like is!!!! I do mostly custom work and one off builds, so I don't need a bunch of the retail and bolt on parts sections like so many of the templates have.... Any good ideas, guys?????

Dave,

Look around at sites that are similar to what you do and see how they are laid out. A web site is just like an ad in a magazine or paper. It has a flow. Too much info, and you loose the customer, too little and it looks hokey. I have my own site for my business (about 9 years now) and it works great for me. I looked at other pages that were in my industry and picked out the things that l liked from several and built mine. Have a few links to other pages, but don't get carried away. Keep the theme throughout.

I'll have to keep looking, most everything I see is geared to resale of bolt ons rather then fabrication.

Take a look at Gambino Customs site. I don't care for the music at the entro, but it's laid out with pictures of what they do that flash through when you go there, then various services they offer can be clicked on at the top. It's easy to look around, and interesting, even if I'm not a custom car lover.

Thanks! Really dreading the task of actually loading stuff up and hauling it down there!!! I'm going to sort things a bit this summer and see what I really don't need, if there's enough of it to make it worthwhile I might have an auction...but before I give stuff away I'd just make one more trip.... I already hauled one load down there last fall using my car trailer, got a lot more stacked in the trailer then I thought I would! I sold that trailer last week and am currently shopping for a new on, this time going a bit bigger (32' to 36') so I can haul more in fewer trips, and when it's time to go racing I'll have more room for all my goodies!!!!
