Work on the diameter that you are looking for first, then figure out what width tire will work in that size.

As an example, you could go with a 28" tall tire, then look into the sizes available that are 28" tall, like 275.60.15 or 8.00x15.

This is mine with 275.60.15 on 8.5" rims.

There are several tire size calculators on the web and most places that sell tires have size calculators.

Good luck.

I am running 275-60-15 M&H Drag Radials on my Austin with 8.5"x15" ET slots. They are 28.5" tall and I really like the way they perform. On my Falcon I have 10"-30"-15" Hurst pie crust slicks on 8.5"x15" ET Classic Five spokes. They also fit the 8.5" wheels well. I just bought a pair of Centerline 10"x15" wheels and had my Goodyear Eagle 10.5"-29.5"-15" wrinkle walls mounted on them for the drags. I think they could also have gone on 8.5"x15" wheels, if I could have scored another pair.
