Tilt Front End

Think I'm going with a tilt front, all steel, on my 57 chevy, no front bumper. I don't want to cut the fenders. I was going to do linear bearing slides but I remember seeing a rocker type set up some where, anybody have any pics? I done slides on my 40 chev, worked good but it's hard to hide them. I found some pics on line but they were all photo bucket and hard to see.

I have pictures in my '63 Falcon build of my rocker type setup. I did cut my fender drops off and welded them to the body also, but it wasn't really necessary to do that. My links on the rockers were 3" hole centers, so when they rocked over it moved the whole steel clip forward 6" before I tilted it. Having the pivot point for the link higher than the stop when it rocks over also dropped the front a good inch or more before I opened it, which helps make it easier to open also.
The cable restraints in this picture were from a Ranger pickup I found in the wrecking yard. I made clamps that I slid up/down the structural tube supports to adjust where the frontend stops when opening it up.

Thanks Vall, that's the one I seen. I knew I seen it in someone's build thread but I couldn't remember who's, must have something to do with age.

here’s a glimpse of my 57
Are you clipping your frame horns …..make sure and watch your cowl section at the top, the door hinge pockets will interfere with the support steel on the inner fender.

I'm going to pretty do mine like yours, 2x4 box front clip.
Also I want to do a rocker type tilt that let's the front end go forward as it tilts. Something like this. Valley done this on his falcon.
