OK, Nostalgia Gasser. What I'm trying to do is build this car to look like an ex race gasser that got drug out of a barn after it was parked around 1968-70. I've collected period correct parts such as, a genuine GM aluminum SBC water pump with a 1966 date code, a Delta Blower Drive setup, an "aged" Blue metalflake steering wheel, a SUN 8000 rpm tach (NOT one of the ones you can buy now), American Racing Torque Thrust wheels, white tuck and roll interior panels, "mexican blanket" seat covers, the paint is original to the car, circa 1956, the straight axle has Ford F1 spindles, the 12 bolt is from a 1967 Camaro, but it's the same thing as a '66-67 Chevy II so....., an EELCO 2 Gallon aluminum fuel tank, Very old Hurst LineLock, water slide decals, an old WICO electronic ignition. He11, the carbs are even dated 1964 !! It's costing lots of $$$$ to get the correct parts. I have missed the mark with the engine block, but even it's a '72 casting date. Oh yeah, I even found a "funnel top" Pabst Blue Ribbon beer can for the radiator overflow !!!

LOVE IT !! Im trying to go the same route Gary . Unfortunatley the paint on the car is one of 3 coats and didnt hold it sshape near as well as yours . The nostalgia parts ive got on it are 15x3.5 fenton gyros up front with 15x11 gyros outback , Rear is a 69 camaro 12 bolt posi , i found a red metal flake wheel half burried in the dirt out in a buddies junk pile from years ago , red rolled and pleated interior , 396 , i did the same with the water pump , found an original gm big block chevy aluminum water pump in a friends shop , i think 67 or 69 date code, Front axle is a 57 truck axle . Plans call for a vintage huffer to top of the 396.

i started the 383 today !! and it sounds GOOD ! (yeah I know, a 383 ain't exactly a Nostalgia motor, but it will look like one.). Started it with a single four barrel, it's simpler that way. and as soon as the rest of the car gets caught up, i'm gonna put the tunnel ram on it. Drive it for a while like that while I'm getting the blower ready, then !!!! I am a HAPPY Camper !!

That's exactly what I'm going for on my Austin gasser clone. I want people to look at it and wonder if it's been resurrected from an original gasser. I pulled up in front of the house Sunday and a guy stopped in his 71 Nova to check mine out. Got the confirmation I was looking for when he said it looked good for "an old race car". He was a little surprised when I told him I built it from a 100% stock Austin purchased last August. :)

What's not to like? Are you going to use the front engine mount / side tranny mounts or are you going to use a plate rear trans mount? Lotsa torque with your setup.

I like turbos for their street friendly manners and power on demand. But nothing beats the look of dat dare big ol' huffer bulking out the front end. They are just ooozzzz power and cool. Love it. Mark L

The engine sits in there really nice Gary!!!! Who's headers are those? They really fit good with all the stock pieces still in there!
bought the headers off of ebay, someguy in Arkansas i think makes 'em. and yes they fit pretty well, NOT perfect, but pretty well.

yes, the stock front mounts, but with steel not rubber, bellhousing mounts poly donuts, and rubber at the trans crossmember, i might have to put a torque link from the head to the frame, i think to be legal NHRA i've got to put forward/rearward restraints in the car too....so by the time it's all done the motor ain't goin' anywhere!!
