Starting a tread to see what you guys enjoy doing (keep it clean!, heh) other than cars. Anyone familiar with me from other boards probably know this already but I like to take songs and rewrite the lyrics. Usually with a car theme but sometimes the songs take on a whole new meaning. I basically change key words or entire lines but I try to make it sound like the original words but the meaning of the song is completely changed. I'll add two songs that've done. One is Danger zone-Top Gun changed to Turbo Zone-Top Run. The Other is Ozzie Ozborns Gets Me Through changed to Bonn-Evil. I like the second one - pretty cool. I was singing right along with your lyrics. I can't hear Danger Zone anymore - it makes my head hurt.

That's quite a talent. I used to show dogs, Chows to be specific. Still have some but my wife does the showing now, and that's cut way down because we have a 12-year-old daughter in gymnastics... that takes up most of the time.

Obviously you've been doing that for many years. They look really good, very detailed. They look good enough to be real car pics. I've got about 50 models that I've bought over the last couple of years. With intentions to build now that I'm retired and have the time. Except I don't take the time to do it. When I decided to build a Pontiac Gasser, I really wanted to build a '60 Catalina bubble top. So I had a Japanese model kit but it was a '60 Bonneville (very nice, detailed kit). So it looks a little out of proportion due to the longer wheelbase. But it's still close to what I was thinking.

Not perfect but gave a good representation of where I wanted to go. BUT, then I found the '63 without a spot of rust on it. I could not pass it up. SOOO, the '63 became my life, heh.
Model building actually helps with understanding cars, systems and helps you to work on systems on cars.
When I got the '63, and I wanted to clip the front end for the truck axle, I found a local chassis builder and took a model car frame of a '62 catalina along for reference, since the frames form '61 to '64 are almost identical. He thought that was a great idea. Said he is always left trying to figure out exactly what someone wants because they never have a frame with them until it's time to do the work. He said with the model he knew exactly what I wanted and what he was going to do. I think I made points, heh. Mark L

Nice. My Dad was an alchoholic and would not allow guns in the house ( I'd probably been dead early in my career and you guys would never have had the pleasure??? of knowing me, heh) so I always wanted one but never got around to having one. Spent all extra money on cars. That's a great collection there. My older Brother by ten years owned a blunder buss at one time. He loved how everyone at the range would stop and just listen to it as it popped the primer and then fired. CLICK, POP, BOOM. I went shooting one time on his property and he gave me a semi automatic M16. He did not tell me it was right handed, I'm left handed. So I would fire and something would graze my cheek. Fire again and nothing. Fire again and, damn, something hit my cheek again. He was laughing his arse off watching me flinch until I realized the ejected shell was hitting me on every other shot. The shell would eject forward, then backward, then forward again. Real funny Bro!!! Heh. Mark L

My dad sold his 3 guns when he got married and started a family. Said he didn't have time to hunt, so we grew up in a non gun family.
I've hunted since I was 18, but not sure how many more years I can do it. It's getting harder to get up those hills, and I refuse to hunt where they allow motor vehicles.

That is a great old joke from years ago. But mine was told in a bar and here was language not quite fit for a kids song. The bartender was going to nail his ass to the bar if he came back in. So th enext day when he came back he asked if he had any nails--NO??--then do you have any grapes??? I used to walk up to the people that worked for me off and on during the day for weeks, especially if they were having a bad day. When they would look at me with that disgusted look like--get out a my face--look. I'd just say--got any grapes and walk away. Always made 'em laugh. Mark L

I was asked by a guy on another board if I had rewritten "Wheel in the Sky". I did not but I told him I would look at it. Now! I did not know this man. I had never talked to him before this. When I posted it and the guy said he liked it. He then told he was a two tour soldier in Iraq and was days away from going back for a third tour. I had no idea he was even in the armed forces let alone been in Iraq and then returning. When I found that out I wanted to make sure that I did not offend him in any way and that there was no intention to offend. He said absolutely not, that he really liked it. To me that was spooky.
