Hello to everyone, Im not only new to the site but also to the whole GASSER lifestyle, Im use to chop tops and laying everything that drives. I have a 49 studebaker that I recieved in a trade for helping a friend move. For the last 8 months its been just sitting while I tried to figure out what I wanted to do untill a week ago when a 454 complete and running fell into my lap for $200.00, after speaking to my Pops and arguing a good fight he won and now we are turning the heap into a gasser. Unforantly again I dont know anything about building a Gasser or this damn car. So hopefully y'all can help me out!

Welcome to the site, Charles. That should make a cool car. You'll find that you are more than welcome here.

I used to live down there on Wilbur, a few houses from Liberace. ( yeah, that was a long time ago) I heard it's a lot different there now.

Post some pics and I'm sure we'll have a hundred ideas to help.

Thank you all for ur warm greetings and Im thankful to have awesome MEN and knowlegded mechanics in my corner. The only pics I have to post are the ones that are also on my profile! The car so far has a corvette rear end in her and soon to have a turbo400 tran with a 454 rebuilt in it! I want to go straight axle front end but Im confused on what kind, do I go dual parrelle leaf springs or single leaf spring? and where can I get my hands on one in a small budget, with todays economy, a job that doesnt pay much, and a wife that has more shoes than days in a year money is a little tight? Again thanks for the welcoming and also all your help

Oh yeah and tires :), this will not always be sitting in my garage I believe in why build something great just to hide it from the world! Im not saying I would make it a daily but at the same time I dont want to have to worry about not being able to drive it whenever I feel the urge to, so what are some good street and drag tires (if those even exist)?

hahaha no big deal! The tires arent for a while anyway Im more worried about getting a straight axle. Is it safe and ok to purchase a used axle off of ebay? I hear from some of my friends no and that I should buy new always (but they are all rich and single) and other say yes you can buy used just need some cleaning
