Hellow all Judd is my name I just found this site. I'm a member of the Southern Gassers a new group that gets together and races around Ms. Al. LA. Fl. We just had race at Battlefield Raceway in Meridian, MS. and are working on a race at No Problem Raceway in Louisiana. I have a clone of Hadden Proffet's 65 Comet A/FX car.

Love the Comet and it's going so fast it's just a blurr, heh. Welcome to the site. Your the first Comet here. Hopefully others will join too. You'll have to add in details on the car and any vids (me like 'um vids, heh) and pics too. Love to know more about it. Thanks for joining in and enjoy the place. It's been growing with leaps and bounds, we are getting a great member base. A big plus is the diversity of cars. Great to have you on board. Mark L

A freind of mine is just starting a strait axle build on a red 62 Falcon 2dr sedan. He is trying to get a running 73 big Merc in Louisiana for 429 drive train $600!

Back in 1965

Thanks john I don't seem to have the attachment thing down yet. LOL. Cool Opel wagon, isn't there another Opel gasser with AMC motor up in your neck of the woods?
Judd, I have seen the Opel gasser with AMC power. I think it is in Ohio somewhere. Saw at a one of the "Gasser Reunions" at Thompson Dragway. The owner is on HAMB forum quite a bit.

Back in '65 when I was in the Army I was stationed at Fort Gordon in Augusta, GA. I did not have car then and I lived "off-base" with my wife about 3 miles or so from there. I had to reply on "hitch hiking" back & forth from the base. One of the fellow soldiers who would give me a ride was a 2nd LT. who owned a BRAND NEW RED '65 Mercury Cyclone. It was always my favorite "ride to work". I can still remember him winding it thru the gears!!!!

Hi Judd nice comet! Small block or FE?
I owned a 65 Daytona package cyclone at one time & a 65 Hipo convt I was told it was one of 12 made.

Only good pic of the convt.

We used it as a push car too.
