Looks like this years Gasser Nationals presented by Gasser Magazine is being held July 15th to 17th at Marion County Raceway in LaRue Ohio. This was the event that was at Thompson Ohio in the Fall and I dont think they had it last year. Marion County is an old school track, I have ran there for about 3 years at the funny car event and had a blast, Mark and Kelly do a great job at running the track..

It has a good chance of making it a great show there, Now I have to figure out if I can make it there or not, it would be 3 weekends away in a row so have to see if the $$$ are there and if the better half will mind? Se is going to one of the events for a weekend away with no kids so I might be able to pull it off.

Hi Jon,
I think I have seen your Falcon at the Gasser Reunion out in Thompson, OH, haven't I? We live out in South Dakota now but I lived in WI for over 20 years. We still have a good friend back there that was my "car buddy" and he is a Gasser nut. We have been to every Gasser Reunion they have held. Since I moved to SD I usually drive on Thursday out to WI, spend the night with him, Fri we drive to OH, enjoy the event, drive back to WI on Sunday afternoon and Monday drive back to SD. It is great fun but kind of a tough schedule and now that they have moved it out to PA I'm not sure we can pull it off - we'll see.
For several years (6, I think) we hauled my white '56 Chevy 2 door sedan (6 cylinder, 4 speed) out there and in '09 we hauled our '50 Chevy pickup truck (also a 6 cylinder 4 speed). I thought that was such a nice race - good facility, plenty of cars, friendly staff...just an excellent event.
Just wanted to say "Hey!"

Ron, I do remember your Chevy. Dad and I thought you guys should have gotten the long hual award. I know what you are saying about Thompson and agree with everthing you mentioned, they are still have a nostagia race there in June but its a 2 day event this year. There ia a 1 day event a little bit closer to you in Byron Ill, its called the Meltdown drags and they are doing a good job getting it bigger. I seen your truck in 09 but did not know until after thr race it was your, its really great looking. What does it run?? Nice touching base with you and I am sure at somepoint we will cross paths somwhere.

Jon,
Thanks for the kind words on the truck. It is fun just having something a little different. That's one of the things I like about your Falcon - clean, well done, runs hard and something a little different. The truck ran a best at Thompson in '09 of 11.72 at 114 mph. It is a bit of a long story but later that summer I broke the cam into several pieces and spit them out both sides of the block - not pretty! We rebuilt the engine, this time with a billet roller cam. The engine actually makes a little bit less hp but more torque and the combination seems work. Last summer at the 1/4 mile track in Pierre, SD we ran 11.602 at just a hair under 115 mph. My wife took a cool shot of it leaving the line (it's in with my vehicle pix) and you can just see daylight under the front tires - nothing like you guys do but kind of fun for an old 6 cylinder farm truck.
We're not sure what races we will be able to make this summer but can't wait for the season to get underway!!

Hey Ron, like the old saying goes. "It's not the size of the dog in the fight that matters--it's the size of the fight in the dog that does". Your six has a lot of fight in it. Those are great times for a six in anything let alone a flying brick of a pick up (no disrespect intended). No you don't have to apologize for your truck sir. It's cool as hell. And a great addition to the board. And thanks for the PM. That was a nice communication. Mark L
