My '53 Hudson Jet gasser project is coming along!

Made some headway on my gasser project. Knowing I can't weld good enough to feel confident in the rollcage and frame build, I sent the Jet chassis to Rob Matheis of Matheis Race Cars, Byrnes Mill, Mo. Rob and his sons Nic and Trent did an outstanding job on gutting the car to a shell, building the chassis and 'cage, and dropping the body shell on top!

Next comes the plumbing, wiring, and building a stroked 348" Chevy W-engine with a Powerglide. Now it's my 2-year-project!

What I absolutely love is that you're using a 348 rather than the de rigueur SB or BB Chevy. When I was at the LA Roadster show a few years back the only photos I took were of a beautiful black 55 Chevy gasser and only because it had a blown 409. When I was walking by it I didn't even give it a second look because I just thought "gee, another tri-5 gasser" but then out of the corner of my eye I caught those unmistakable valve covers. You just can't beat the Hemi, SOHC, Boss 429 or 348/409 valve covers. I cannot wait to see the motor!!!

Car looks great! I'd love to see some pictures of what they did on the chassis too!
