OK John, now you done dood it. I actually saw that wagon for sale when I was looking for a car to buy. I think it was up in Reno NV. If it is the same car bu thow many gasser 4 door '57 Pontiacs are out there??? The plates were Idaho so I assume someone up there bought it. I even talked to the owner on line but never got any farther. Back in '73 I owned a salmon (pink) and white '57 Cheiftain that I found in a barn outside the littel town tha I lived in. This is a pick with several pics on it.
The Blue TA was my bought off the lot '72 brand new (pic taken in '73) that I let get away. The bottom pic was the '57. Actually it was cleaner than it looks in the pic. Rust free. The left center pic is from the neighbors trailer across the road. Immedietely to the right you can see the '57 after I tilted thr front end and painted it flat black then sold it to the 16 year old twins across the street when I found the red '63 that you see straight ahead across the street. That was a 421 HO tripower 4 speed ex stock class race car that had blown the 421. I got it in pieces, sold off the 421 stuff and found a complete '69 Ram Air III 400 out of a Goat, dropped it in with another 4 speed and a '66 tripower intake set up. The rear was a Dana posi and 3:90 gears and with that 400/tripower it just screamed. This pic was in '75 after trading in the TA for a VEGA (yes shoot me, gas crunch etc/wife etc) Getting the Vega Christmass Eve of '74, finding rustcoming thru the fenders May of '74 (yes 5 months later) and after fighting with GM about it and getting now where I almost gave it away to a guy at work. And damn it, just after I sold it GM gave in and replaced all the sheet metal and did a repaint on the entire car for nothing. Man was I mad. Anywho the other car next ot the '63 in the snow was my '72 Firebird Formula 455 HO muncie M-22, and 3:42 rear end that I bought after getting rid of the Vega. Found it in the Milwaukee area for a song because of the gas crunch and he needed a car for college. That 455 was the first all engine build for me. It was a stong motor. Now, if you look at the top pic, that was the first car I ever raced with my Formula. I literally blew his door off. HA!! I wished. He blew by me so fast the sound wave bouncing off of my car and popped the door off. So guess I can still say I blew them off, LOL. Thanks John for making cry about the ones that got away again, and, again, and, again, heh. Mark L
