Sounds more like blower belt is to tight...( on purpose..reduce whip for gas pedaling)..or maybe and a big maybe he replaced the blower bevel gears with straight cut gears...really dumb...

That's fantastic! And I much prefer conical holes to normal shank style mag wheel holes. Conicals have never given me any troubles. Now they need to come up with a way to convert ET Unilug style to a fixed conical bushing insert to repair those too! ET does sell conical washers for the Unilug design wheels, and I've got them on the back of my Austin. But I've seen good Unilug wheels with damage around the Unilug insert that could be repaired if they came up with a similar fix.

Why would anyone choose a Fairmont to put all that engine and fabrication into? Sounds awesome, but a Fairmont?

I would do a Fairmont...it is a ford Nova...or a Ford AMC 440
