Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend! Not much got done around here, but we did slip in one car show at the VFW lodge here, and both Jeff (1956 Chevy gasser) and our other gasser buddy with his '48 Austin won trophies! Jeff got the '55-'59 class and Mike got the '40-'49 class.
Kinda neat to see gassers getting enough interest to win!

Sorry guys but being retired means Holidays are just like any other day. Just another day working on the car----hate me--go ahead--. Heh. I worked on finishing the seat bottom and put it back in the car. It works fine, not as nice as a professional job, but Ok for the time being. Later when the cars is more complete and less costly things are in need of buying I'll look into getting it done right. Actually, once the interior is complete it may not look bad as is.

And I started looking hard at the dash board. The overall interior should go together pretty easily. Found a great area where there is a whole bunch of upholstery shops and a big upholstery supply store. I'm going to check out the supply place for the carpeting and the interior vinyl. OK. I'm done talkin'. Mark L

Hey Mark I don't hate you for being retired; heck I'm retired too! It's a great club we belong to!
As for interior supplies like vinyl; I go to the local fabric store where they sell rolls of various materials. It's tons cheaper than the upholstery supply places. I got my black naugahyde for the Austin for under $8 a yard in 60" widths. In fact the store I go to has 40% off sales around holiday weekends, so I waited to buy it then and got 40% off the $7.99 price! Bought some extra for future use since it was so cheap, and I've got more projects coming up.

It had rained two of the three days, just like its raining this weekend, that never happens here in sunny Calif....and we had 7 small cat 1 tornadoes touch down here just north of us, ( tore up some orchards and a barn) some strange weather here lately, so the coupe still resides in the garage til it clears a little, sealing up around the high pressure area in front of the radiator, and trying to figure out how to mount the new trans cooler, picked up some aluminum sheet to make some mounts for it. A while back I had installed a 3/8 stainless fuel line from the tank to the front, well I could`nt get a decent flare so took to a friend that does this regularly, he had to do it three times before it quit splitting, I installed it, now its leaking again...OK I`m done with the stainless line, pulled it back out gone back to standard steel fuel line, used scotch brite pad buffed it up and clear coated it....LOL

You'll be retiring about the same time of year as I did. Winter is a great time to retire! No yard work, no car shaos, so it's just stay in the garage and play with hotrods! You'll get plenty done then!

Hey we need a retired OL' Gassers section. With advertising like Viagra and Prilosec, heh. We could discuss how to's like, how to have someone properly prechew tough steak, and what's the best way to reach your shoes to tie them, without help that is. OH, and don't forget shop tips, like, personal distress call buttons for those ackward times when you just can't get back up off the floor, etc. Don't forget product testing. Like, how Depends can double as shop towels as long as they are still unused--heh. Or how they make great packing filler. OK, I'm done. Have to hit the John again anyways. Mark L

This was really wierd. I just got done adding the above reply about an Ol' Gassers section, went to the projects section, was addign a reply there and my keyboard had a stroke, seriously. The "o" key quit working along with the right arrow key. Just quit working. I did rehab (reboot) and all is well. It was just funny as hell. Mark L

The economy down fall hurt me somewhat. I had alot more and the house should have sold for much more if everything had not taken a nose dive. I'm OK but not as good as it should have been. Mark L

Hey I could always do better! Try having the IBEW union you paid into for many years tell you they couldn't find your retirement paperwork, so you send it in again and then they tell you since they got it late they're screwing you out of 4 months pay, even though they know your correct retirement date!
