:cool:Hey, guys guess by now most everone has heard about Good Guys doin' away with most of their drag races. Man Indy was 1 great place to watch gasser races.Bowling Green is another.Ihave went to BG the last few years and still love it.They are some great gassers there. you can watch bracket races and get bored after while watching dragsters, camaros, novas, and mustangs race. But i never get tired of watching GASSERS go down the track. Hope some of you plan on going to BG this year. I'll sue be there if nothing happens. Hope i will have my drag car going, i will have it there if i can it going by then.Too many things going.

I agree. you can walk around and look and drool on all the iron sitting at a car show. But he sound of the engines rump-rumpin' with big cams thru the pits and straining as they pull down the strip is %99 of the car craze for me. Especially the faster more powerfull frontend lifters coming off the line. Nothing like it. I love the car show for gwetting ideas, and the strip for getting chills. There's a big thread on HAMB about Modified Production cars. One person has posted a couple of videos of early 70's M/P cars, the lower class small displacement high rpm cars. It takes me way back listening to those screamers hitting 9000 off the line and shifting at 9800. Talk about chills. Mark L

You are right about the drag races at Beech Bend. I will miss the Good Guy drag races but they are still going to have the NHRA Hot Reunion fathers day week end.I attended the reunion last year and had a great time. The highlight of my trip was getting to sit in the Sox & Martin 1968 Hemi Cuda and have my picture taken. The year before got to talk to Buddy Martin and have him autograph a picture of their 71 Pro Stock Cuda. Those guys were my heros when I began racing. RIP Ronnie.

Hey guys, Gasser Nationals are moving to beaver springs Pa. anyone know anything about this track? Should be closer to otis and steve.

Was surfing through some older posts & came across this one...... The "gasser events" are just around the corner.

I have NOT gone to Beaver Springs yet. In fact, I have NOT gone to any of the Mid-America Willys Club sponsored events since they screwed everything up by moving the Gasser "Reunion" & "Nationals" to Summit Raceway Park (formerly Norwalk) which was a "bust".

Then last year the events were moved again .... this time to Beaver Springs for the Gasser Reunion & Marion County for the Gasser Nationals. I was told Beaver Springs was OK although the facilities were not as nice as Thompson and it was over a 30 minute drive from the drag strip to the closest motel. :(

Now this year, Thompson is having its own Gasser Reunion the first weekend in June.... the following weekend the Mid-America Willys group will again be at Beaver Springs.... NO Mid-America sponsored "Gasser Nationals" is scheduled for this year so far. There will be a Gasser Nationals held at Thompson in September. Hopefully these two events will get the "Gasser Events" held at Thompson back on track. Ain't been the same since they left.

Probably wont make any of the drags back eat or even midwet, but I'm looking forward to going to the Billetproof Drags at Riverdale Raceway in Toutle, Wa. the 3rd weekend in August! It's good old fahioned drag racing, with no NHRA involvement, a cool remote small track, and almost everything pre '64. Last year we saw everything from cars you could time with a calendar, to 8 sec. cars. It's 1/8 mile, and a few guys were hitting up in the 170 mph in the 1/8th!
I'm hoping to have everything dialed in on the Austin and if I can't tow it there to race, I'll drive it and race! Just like the good old days!
