Hi iam trying to put a 427 chevy big block in a 57 belair and the valve covers do not fit with roller rockers to tall any short valve covers out there? so i don`t have to cut the firewall. chuck
I've got a pair of chrome short valve covers for a 427 Chevy. Came off my '71 Camaro years ago. Pretty decent shape, but probably need a little cleaning. If you're interested drop me an email. $30 shipped inside the USA.-Vall [email protected]
Hey chuck, know what you mean on big block in a tri five. Guys used to beat the firewall in on that corner to get them to fit. If you find a set of short covers and you still want to run roller rockers you can buy valve cover spacers in different thickness to clear rockers and maybe clear firewall. Just a thought. Good luck and welcome.
^^ What he said. It takes a few blows on each side to get them to clear. You will also probably have to change the stock throttle pedal as the hole where it comes out gets distorted by the hammering. The other option is to put in a deeper well.
And welcome to the site. Let's see that '57!
