Hello, I'm new at this so please bear with me. I wanted to build a chevy gasser, but could not find a project car with the right price etc. Then my younger brother had a friend with a 55 buick he wanted to sell for cheap. I originally turned it down based on my initial assumptions that it would not be suitable. When I got a first hand look at the car, and thought about it, the better I felt about it. It is similar to a Chevy 55, but just different enough to be well, different.
I chose this web site because the members all welcome gasser builds of any type and model. I have monitored several builds on this site and found the material very informative and helpful. The members on this site as compared to others also are very honest in their assements of other peoples projects giving good solid advice instead of misleading opinions offered without basing on good common sense or fact.

Welcome to the bests Gasser site. Bring your project here and you'll get good advice and honest opinions. But always, we strive to be upbeat and supportive. There's enough people on other boards to cover all the hate, we want everyone to be open and accepting. That does not mean you can't inform others if you see a problem or have experience with things that may save someone a heap of trouble. That is encouraged. A '55 Buick Gasser is going to be a hell of a great car. There is a '57 Gasser somewhere on U-tube and it make a great looking Gasser. Go for it and bring us along too. We love 'em here. Glad you could join up and I'm looking forward to the build. Mark L

Looking forward to your build. I really like the Buicks, and like you say, they are just a little different from Chevy. Hope you enjoyed looking about. Like one of the folks said on another thread, you must of been looking and lurking. Welcome.

Welcome B2 ...... of all the website forums GHR is the most welcoming when it comes to unique one-off gasser builds. From looking around here you know that already.

Looking forward to hearing and sseing pictures of what you plan to do with yor Buick.

Welcome to the forum B2idaho! I can't add much beyond what you've discovered; we don't hate here. Better to be positive and helpful. We're all hotrodders, and need to encourage, not discourage! It's more about the rides than the owners here!

Hey welcome neighbor! OK, at least in the PNW!

Buicks make great looking gassers. I have the 'P' in BOP that I will get to in the future (a '56 Pontiac Star Cheif). Nothing wrong with out-of-the-norm gassers here. Just look around. There's even a '65 Rivi!

Love to see a build thread on your car.

Quickie search and I saw this...

Way out there!

Thanks for joining in on the fun.

Thanks for the reply! I tried the link, and printed the instructions, unfortunately there are some minor differences between your link examples and the actual pages that open.(for example: the window "upload from your computer" and Choose file button never present themselves exactly as shown. Instead I get a single button called "select" I click on that and My Documents file window opens where I have my jpg pics stored, I then click open which transfer the selected pic into the the window you show in your link. When I click upload file a color bar shows an upload action taking place, but with a red ball / baloon which may mean something is possibly wrong with my transfered file. After a couple of attempts, all I managed to do was install a couple of albums with NO pictures! Any suggestions? how about the other method you mentioned in your reply, Im willing to try that if your willing to walk me thru it.

Welcome. I gave up on trying to load pictures through the site and opened a photobucket account. It's still not easy for me because I'm not very computer smart, but it's better than without it.

I uploaded my pictures to photobucket after creating an account. Now, how do I get them from photobucket to here?

When using photobucket, once your pics are in there, lay the curser on the pic (don't click anything) that you choose. A Pop up will appear with links on them. Click on the link that says Direct link, you will see it change to "copied". Now go to the board, and on a reply or whatever your on, hit the Left [ and type in "img" then add the right ] behind it. Like this . Now, when you click on that "Direct Link", you've "copied" the link of your pic in photobucke. go back to your reply and place your cursor after the [img] and hold down "ctrl" and press V. The link that you copied should come up right behind the bracketed img.
So, if all went right, so far you have

[img]http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt97/marks73turbota/timecoverpointerandstarterplate001.jpg

Now add the same left bracket [ a forward slash / then img again ] and then you are done.

So this is what youare doing

When you hit "Post Quick Reply" at the bottom of the reply box the reply will come up and the pic should appear.

I'm going to write it out just as you will see it but I'm going to put two spaces in somewhere so it will not bring up a picture when I add my reply to the thread. You'll see it as it should look before you click to finish the post.

Now I'm going to do it right and you'll see the pic as it should appear. (Remember I only put spaces in the example above so it will not present the pic. The one you use wil be solid all the thru the link).

There is another way by clicking on the bottom link of the pop up box called "IMG Code". This will do it all for you so all you have to do is copy that link and click it right on the spot you want the pic to appear. But there have been times that it has not copied for me so I just automatically type in the
myself. I hope I explained that OK. Sometimes I get too wordy.

Just one thing I do different Mark. If you click on the Photobucket link titled "Img code" then it will say "copied", and then you simply do the "cntrl" "v" keys here in your post and it comes up without doing anything else.

Oops! You mentioned that too! :)

Thanks Steve and Mark, That is why I chose this gasser site. I monitored it for awhile before I decided to enroll just because of the response by members to others who request help or information. I will try the Photobucket transfer method you so eloquently detailed. My opinion is your post was not too wordy. The more detail, the better. Even the most simple of tasks can seem difficult if performing the first time. I thank everyone for your willingness to help and your patience and understanding. I promise to "pay it forward" by helping others wishing to gain from my experiences. Once I get these pictures to load, Im sure they will generate questions, suggestions, etc. I will be more than happy to offer any help I can!

b2idaho,

Here's a West Coast Welcome from the PSW,,San Diego, glad you joined us.
Buick looks like a great gasser project to me!

I posted a couple of pics right from the quick reply page, using the "go advanced". Promted me right through it, no probs and I am NOT tech savy. maybe that will work for you,, One of may nick names is "LOW TECH",,, better at fabin and turning wrenches than this computer stuff. Hopefully that may help you get something up for us to see.

I remember when I first started posting pictures it DID take a little "learning curve" .... now I can do it in my sleep.

Once you figure it out you'll be posting pictures with ease.

Your "Buick" is definitely a very interesting project that all of us will enjoy.

Hey b2idaho, A big WELCOME. Glad you joined. Like everyone else will be glad to see your Buick transform. There was a 55 olds turned into a gasser in hot rod once. Just about anything makes a good gasser.
