Been 2 busy weekends, the body and chassie is now completely stripped of everything other then master cylinder and steering column. All ready to got to the fabricators for new 8.50 tagged cage and new strange rear axel and wheel bars. Also we have cut the rear out in preparation to tub the rears for the new wheels, I have test fitted them and they fit just how I wanted them too.

Sounds like you're really moving along on the Willys!
Will you be installing modern wheelie bars, or making them look like those used in the 60's?
Hey Austin

Want the stance to look like the hemi hauler with similar wheel bars too.

Also we have decided that the low back seats we have are just to kow so will be switching to a set of jaz low back prostock seats. Also changing the red steering g wheel to a similar design but in back with quick release to make it easy to get in and out of.

Just a suggestion here. Have you thought about making the rear opening on the fenders straight down once they get past 180 degrees? It appears they curl back in towards the tire like the opening is a 210 degree circle. Looks a bit strange to my eyes.

Its the angle of the photo I believe, also need to add a rod behind the rear of the arch as it flexs inwards and is slightly bowed.

Man, that looks like a very nice gasser! If I can say, I agree that the rear fender looks like it does curve inward toward the face of the wheel. I see it in several photos and it does appear that way. But I don't see the same effect in the blue car's rear fender. Just saying,

Maybe its me..... but the curves look fine on the rear tires. Smooth curves as a visual.

New rear axel, 3rd member and housing ordered it will be fitted with a new 4 link system to replace the ladder bars.

The whole floor of the car is cut out now and old cage that came in the car when I got it also cut the tubs out.

New seats have arrived too.

Also the old American racing slot mags have got and both the 11" wide shelby and shelby cal 500 front wheels and been replaced with weld racing pro star fronts (for both road and track) and have a set of 10" wide weld racing prostar for the road.

Now on the look out for a set of 12" weld racing prostars or alumastar for the track which with a 3" back spacing should give a nice little bit of tyre poke from rear archs. This will have slicks mounted on them.

Also purchased a new set of wheelie bars, strange rear 2 way adjustable coilovers.

Next time car goes to chassie shop they will be mounting wheelie bars and a set of front adjustable shocks (either qa1 or strange).

Only other purchase recently has been a set of holley digital gauges with anolog style gauges (Afr gauge, volts, water temp, transmission temp, fuel gauge, oil pressure and GPS speedo) and an earls fuel pressure gauge to mount of regulator

Nice work on the cage! Love how they've shaped the tubes to stay so close to the body. Shows they were great craftsmen who took extra steps to do it right.

Yes brill craftsmanship, the welds are art it's shame I'm painting it all, also they tied the cage and 4 link into each other to stop chassie flex, cant wait to get 493ci in and hear it running

I now have a set of track wheels too.

I went with a set of 15x14 centerline convo pros with hoosie 32x14.5 slicks.

They should give me around 2" of tire poking out from the archs.

When first installed they were catching on inner arch but 2 minutes with an air saw and that was sorted.

Next job is to finish painting the chassie, cage and axle and build up the new front straight axle

Chassie is now all painted and started to rebuild.

Rear axel back in the bar with lines run. Started to build up front axel but run into clearance issues with steering arms. So that is next job to sort out and find a solution.

Then need to sort out a new brake booster and master cylinder as found out old ones are broken.

Then will be ready to run all the plumbing for brakes, fire systemamd fueling also rewire the car due to moving fusebox and battery location.

Need to get engine back in been nearly 3 years now, it only came out for a mild rebuild and ended up being a ground up rebuild. (Think only parts that are going back on that came off are front leaf springs and steering box.

More parts ordered. Brake booster and master cylinder with valve and Residual valves. So can now plumb in the all the hard lines for brakes. Only job left so braking system will then.be replace broken line line and fit braided flexi lines.

Also have new drop steering arm ordered as when I fitted new hubs/brakes and steering arms to new heavy duty axle ran into clearance issues.
