lately I have been seeing some vintage shots of hot rods on instagram. I know some of us don't do instagram so I decided to link the pics to our site for our viewing pleasure. We will take no credit and these pics are solely for our enjoyment. Credits will go to the instagram posting host. I will post one or two pics a week. if you like what you see please post so I know Im not waisting my time. Thanks to (Early_Racing_Classics) and (Biggenfast) for donating the instagram photos for us old people to see here on the forum. LOL

Enjoy everyone!

Hey Mario

thanks for posting something, anything. I was missing seeing posts and thought maybe everyone is like me and completely uninspired to do anything of any consequence. I haven't even shaved since Christmas morning :(

Mario

my first question, how many reps? Vall, I went to In N Out and got a 4X4 with animal style fries, and a chocolate shake. I also had 2 delicious lemon filled (with the creamy lemon filling, not the gelatine filling) donuts this morning with my coffee. After all these years at 71 1/2 I still have a 33" waist :).

That's my favorite year for a Dart Mario! But if he gets $45k he's found a guy with more money than brains. The nicest '65 Dart around wont ever get near that. They just haven't ever gotten enough interest to garner the big bucks. Maybe a blown Hemi in that car might get it to $45k though?

That Willys belongs to a friend of mine, Robbie Davis. He has several Willys plus a few other significant old hotrods. That Willys has a 383 SBC in it, and it launches wheels up, almost dragging the rear bumper! I think Robbie told me it's a Summit crate engine, and a 4 speed, with 9" Ford and 5.38 gears!
He's got a satin black Willys with a blown 392 hemi in it too!

Lash the way I see it in my case is beggars can’t be choosy. And I’m begging. Please lord get me a willys. Lol

Here's one of Robbie's other Willys coupes at Billetproof in Washington:

Best I could do on the original Willys was in 2017 when he snapped and axle at Billetproof. Watch around 4:40 min. here. But also watch around 5:00 min. in to see Mike's Plymouth coupe running too!

In this video Robbie is running his Homeyer's Willys against his other Willys, the pickup he owns. Not sure if his wife or his daughter is driving the pickup? He gave his daughter the pickup about that time.

Here it is at Eagle Field in 2015. But they don't use any traction compound at Eagle Field, so he can't hook up enough to bring the wheels up. About 22:00 min. into this video.

And his black blown hemi Willys coupe:

I'm over both of them myself. Whether it's a Willys coupe, or a '32 Ford coupe. The car shows and internet are flooded with both, and in the case of '32 Fords there may be more on the road today in the form of originals, and aftermarket bodies, than Henry Ford ever built!
If it was my choice it would be a number of others before either of those cars.

Hey Mario

That was great; thanks for posting. I never got into the HO scale slot cars, I preferred the 1/25 where you could buy the clear bodies to paint on the inside but also there were a multitude of different motors, wheels and gearing to use along with building your own chassis with brass tubing. The local hobby store of course had the road course and then built a large figure 8 track. They held races every Saturday night and the last races of the night were drag races on the straight section of the figure 8. The cars would be lined up, the power to the track turned off and then the power would be turned on (no reaction time for a count down) and a soft barrier at the end to stop the cars. What was nice was being able to change gears and tire diameter.

I spent a lot of time with the HO racing sets as an only child with Parents that constantly fought. I went into my own little world upstairs in my room with the big track layout. Rebuilding cars with hopup kit parts and fixing burnt out motors and chassis that melted from overheating. It was so much fun and i treasured it so much that I would dismantle and hide it when we had company so nobody could break my cars or tracks. I still have that and more. I found tractor trailers back in 1980 in Florida at a kaybee hobby. One was like the shell tanker in the video.
This is why I liked that video so much. My childhood flashed back.
